Seniors are always fun to shoot. They are excited for their future and proud of all their hard work. I love getting to know them through our shoot and the days to come as we order announcements and prints. What I love even more than that is knowing a senior before we shoot. It’s so fun knowing where they were, how they have worked and where they are going. I’ve known D’Nae since she was in 4th grade when her sister and I became best friends. Your friends siblings are usually just something you have to deal with, they come with the package – but D’Nae has become a great friend to me throughout my friendship with D’Anna. I love her heart, her laugh, and her ability to make any situation a blast. I am so proud of the beautiful woman she has become and the way she has overcome obstacles in her life.
D’Nae, you are beautiful and the world is truly a better place with you in it. Thank you for letting me take your picture, and for letting me call you friend. Love you!
This girl. She worked so hard to pick out the perfect outfits and looked beautiful and confident. I was so impressed with her and so excited for me. She made our job so fun. More importantly, she has a heart of gold that you can clearly see in each one of these. I know that the future is bright for this sweet girl! Enjoy these favorites!
Give us a call, seniors! Time is running out!
There are some bands that are really great to listen to on a rainy day, some bands are best with the windows down with the warm sun on your face, some are great to sing along to. Gungor is perfect for all of the above, and more. I love them for many reasons but a few weekends ago, I found another reason to love them. They are INCREDIBLE live. I had an absolute blast with friends and my boy. I’m sure a few of you have seen these, as I tried desperately to get them to share them on their instagram…either way pretend like you’ve never seen them and enjoy
She knew there was something different about him, and he knew the same about her. Devin wasn’t just any bartender and Erin wasn’t just any girl asking him to dance. He adores everything she does, and she lights up at the sound of his name. Shooting their day, and documenting their love was a true joy.
Their first look was one of my favorites for sure. Devin’s teary hello may or may not have had me misty eyed.
Their day was perfect. I mean, we all know about Texas weather. A wedding in January that’s partially outside is a risky move – but it worked out perfectly. Mid 60′s with little wind – doesn’t get much better.
The Hotel Alsace was a beautiful venue, and Lori Matlock and Devin’s uncle Rick did an amazing job on all the decor. All white weddings make me swoon.
So adorable. Hand written by the groom, too!
And these friends know how to have a good time! Such a fun time with all of their friends!
Thank you Devin and Erin, for letting us hang out with you and document your sweet story! Wishing you all that’s wonderful, forever!
Through the weeks of stress, panic and hard work, I think it is safe to say that our first bridal show was a success! It wouldn’t have happened for us without the help of my family and friends. Between wall building, transporting, and literally sharing of their living room – I couldn’t have done any of this without their selflessness. It made me realize how I wouldn’t be anywhere without my favorite people!
Apparently, our beauty sign was a bit confusing – we got asked if we were hair stylists several times. Ryan was convinced that it was because we have such great hair, but…I’m thinking…not. **note to self – add the word photographer to the wall for next year **
These suckers were easily one of my favorite parts of our booth.
Above it all, my favorite part was definitely meeting and talking to all the wonderful brides. I really love meeting and talking to new people. Plus – newly engaged girls are like the happiest people on the planet so that’s fun.
We also had a drawing for a free photoshoot, which I had the hardest time just drawing one name because I wanted everyone to win.
Drumroll pleaassseee….and the winner is……….
Congratulations! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 806-292-0933.
For everyone we met, I can’t wait to meet and talk more with you!
If rain on your wedding day is good luck, then ice on your wedding day has to be worth something, right?
I met Ashley through the ladies at Southern Elegance, and could not have been more excited to shoot her wedding. After we shot her bridals, Ryan and I went to dinner with Ashley and her mom. We laughed and talked for a couple hours and at the end of the night, I just had to confess… I just really, really wanted to be her friend. Luckily, she felt the same and now we’re going to be best friends forever (Ha, just kidding…kind of). To make a long story short, I adore this girl and her wedding day was so sweet. From the beautiful handmade decorations, the great venue (The Legacy), and the work of Southern Elegance – it couldn’t have been better.
With the new year always comes feelings of being…for lack of a better word, better. People hoping to eat better, exercise better, be.. better. I understand people’s fascination with it – I mean it is refreshing. I enjoy seeing people’s instagram pictures of salads, and mirror shots of developing muscles. It makes me want to be healthy and start fresh, too. Something that I am realizing this year that I haven’t realized before is that resolutions take guts. It takes a lot for some people to give up fast food, or to take time to exercise, or quit smoking, or anything else they try to do.
Over the Christmas break, Ryan and I saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I adored the movie for a number of reasons, but mostly because it encouraged adventure, being true to yourself, and stepping outside what you’ve always known. I didn’t love those things because they are something I’m good at but something I aspire to be. This movie aspired (or brought to the surface, at least) all of the following:
- I have always wanted to be spontaneous and adventurous, but am so practical it hurts. (I mean, I couldn’t even the guts to ride the swaying pirate ship at wonderland when I was a kid.)
- I admire bravery.
- I hate feeling “stuck” in life.
- I don’t want to dream about what I want, but work for it.
- I love people and the stories they have to tell.
As I sit on the couch and have a mini panic attack about the new year and all that I hope to do and be, I have to remember these feelings. I have to remember the beauty that I admired throughout this movie. I have to remember that we all start somewhere.
When I first started this business, I had no idea what I was doing. When I look at Lubbock photographers that I admire, I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing. I’m sitting here fighting feelings of doubt, uncertainty, and fear. I’m realizing that the only way to shut them up is to shove feelings of hope, hard work, and faith down as far as I can get them.
We are going to be attending the Lubbock Bridal Show this year. I am
a little nervous so excited and can’t wait to meet other photographers, wedding vendors and obviously lots and lots of brides! If you plan on attending, please stop by and see us!
I’ll leave you with a shot from our first wedding of the year that we shot in Castroville, TX. Can’t wait to share more.
So, here’s to new adventures and fighting fear with each new day. I hope that whatever your new years resolution is – you stay true to yourself and see the beauty that surrounds you.
As I reflect on 2013 I can’t help but feel a little overwhelmed. I’m overwhelmed by people’s kindness, grace and love that I experienced in the last year – well every year, really. I remember how terrified I was when I first started this business. There was so much to learn, so much pressure to get the perfect shots. In an industry that is ever changing, I find myself feeling that way often. Yet, I continually meet people who believe in me enough to document some of the most important moments of their lives. What an amazing privilege.
To all of my clients who have been a part of that, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. And for those of you who I will have the honor of shooting in 2014, I can’t wait to create images that will help your perfect memories last for the rest of forever.
I also have to thank this guy I call my husband. He’s been an amazing addition to the business and felt like he really found his place this year. He can read anything and remember it forever (if you know me – you know that I am lacking in this department). He is wonderfully technical and has been a great teacher in our new venture into off camera lighting. Besides the business, he is my rock, my sounding board, and my best friend.
I can’t wait to see what the new year offers. I hope that it brings you all you could ask for.
