Here’s a rundown of my typical Saturday morning:
1. Sleep in
2. Turn off the alarm I set to wake me up at a time that feels like when an adult should wake up on Saturday
3. Actually get up 30 minutes later
4. Breakfast
5. Enjoy the day
If at all possible, I do not deviate from that schedule; it is what gets me through the week. However, when presented with the opportunity to photograph some pretty adorable children, I promote Step 2 to the top of my list, actually wake up and gladly start snapping away.
That was the case last Saturday when my teaching buddy Erica (what’s up Highland?) asked me to photograph her adorable daughter Adilyn and her newly born son Brody. And if the photographs below aren’t evidence enough that being a grown up and sacrificing a little extra sleep is worth it, then I don’t know what is.
This beauty is a sweet, sweet girl with a very bright future. I’m so excited for her and was thrilled when she called for me to shoot some of her Senior Pics… I mean look at her… So. Beautiful.
I’ve written this blog about 20 times and erased it. Nothing seems to justify how much I enjoyed this day or these people. Their love for each other was beautiful and the way that they had fun with each other all day was really inspirational. I am going to stop trying to tell you how beautiful I think they are and I am going to let you see for yourself.
I was friends with Landon’s older sister and vaguely remember playing a game of hide and go seek with him (I really hate that game, it always scares me) when we were little. Now he’s a senior and it makes me realize how old I am how fast time flies.
Landon has such a fun personality that shows in every image. It was a blast to hang out with this guy and getting to know the grown up version of the kid I played hide and seek with. Not only is he fun, driven and talented – he was such a trooper and did any little thing we asked him to…which makes him a golden child of sorts in Senior Boy Photography world.
If you have been or ever dreamed of being a bride, you are likely aware that planning a wedding can be a wonderful experience, but it can also be a massive headache. You know, like when the place you planned to have your reception floods and informs you a month ahead of your wedding that you will need to find another venue to have your big party. Add in the fact that the town you are having this reception in is Plainview, Texas, which has a grand total of about one place capable of hosting such a party — which, as previously mentioned, is currently more capable of being a child’s swimming pool — and you start to get the picture of how this could be a problem.
Fortunately, our latest bride Natasha was a few things:
1. Lovely to work with
2. Beautiful and
3. Incredibly chill
Consequently, the wedding not only went off without a hitch, it was one of the the most beautiful and elegant weddings and receptions we have had the pleasure of documenting thanks to both Natasha, James, and Southern Elegance Designs.
This was their signature drink – “The Cucumber Melon Martini”

Thank you, Natasha and James for allowing us to be a part of your day, it was a joy!
In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
Getting to experience sweet friendships is always a blessing. It was fun getting to be with Ashlee and Dalia and document these two girls as individuals and their friendship.
Come back soon for Natasha and Anthony’s Wedding!

Her smile was beautiful. His love was obvious. Their patience was nothing short of inspiring. Bailey and Zal are now the proud parents of three beautiful babies. I can not imagine doing what they are doing…much less doing it with such grace. They didn’t look tired, sound frustrated, or even act like having three babies all at once was anything out of the ordinary. These two were wonderful parents and I loved every minute of capturing these beautiful babies.
Late Night Thought #1
I think Ryan and I should write movie reviews together…It would be hilllllaarrrious. Really.
Late Night Thought #2
People are my most favorite thing ever. I have so enjoyed meeting and reconnecting with people the last two weekends while shooting weddings.
Late Night Thought #3
Coconuts are my favorite obsession currently.
Late Night Thought #4
I have a great husband who makes me coffee at 9:00 to keep me from falling asleep like an old lady.
Late Night Thoughts #5
Did you know that Sea Otters hold hands while they sleep as to not drift away from one another?!?! (It’s true – Google it.)
In other news! We shot a beautiful wedding this weekend. James and Natasha made such a sweet couple and had a gorgeous wedding! Natasha worked with Southern Elegance to get the exact look she wanted and they did an amazing job. Can’t wait to shar emore with you!
On Sunday, I had a new first. I got to shoot Triplets! I’m definitely still learning when it comes to newborns but I so enjoyed this shoot.
Aren’t those the cutest little feet you have ever seen?
That night – Ryan and I got to shoot a double senior shoot. Two beautiful friends got together to have their senior shoot – they were too fun!
I have had to correct my grammar more times than I can count so I will take that cue and go to sleep. Be back soon with more.
hugs.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my eighth birthday party at the skating rink. I had on some terrible high waisted shorts with a turtle neck sleeveless red and blue shirt (blame 90′s fashion, not me). I was having a good time skating but when I heard that Amanda was there, I reached a new level of excitement. Amanda and I played basketball together when we were young and were inseparable in junior high. We were both freakishly tall and lets face it, that in itself will draw two teenage girls together. She has always had a fun, free spirit that people are just drawn to.
Needless to say, when Amanda called and asked me to shoot her wedding – I was thrilled. She is now a model in Austin and is as beautiful a person as I remember. She came down and stayed with me a month before the wedding and when I asked her to tell me about Ish, she beamed with excitement. She told me that as unconventional as their relationship might seem – she was the happiest she had ever been. “I feel like a princess”, she told me. She continued to tell me how he treats her like every girl dreams of being treated and that his young spirit made her life full.
Here’s to many years of sharing more laughs, love, and memories.
Love these shots that Ryan got.
I was attending a friends wedding and mingling when Jared comes up to me. (We’ve known one another for 9 years or so – another story for probably not another time) He tells me that he thinks this Alissa girl that is helping serve coffee is super cute. My matchmaker instincts kick in and I excitedly tell him that I know her. (Alissa and I worked at the Broadway Brew together) Then – Jared starts saying things that turned my matchmaker instincts in the opposite direction. He began saying things like…”That girl is just so cute, I wonder if she’ll go home with me…” I knew that this wasn’t the kind of guy that Jared was and so I was a bit confused. In either case – I warned Alissa. I would sneak up behind her and tell her that there was a guy that would come talk to her and she needed to ignore him. Alissa laughed and thanked me for my help.
Little did I know Jared was totally fooling me. He and Alissa had just started dating and he knows how dramatic I am and thought he would have himself a little fun. I was only a little annoyed at how gullible I was but so happy for them. As I thought back on this it made me realize that these two are so perfect for each other. Alissa loved the playful side of Jared and plays right along with him most of the time. With every push of her bangs and the way he smiles at her, it is easy to see that Jared absolutely a-d-o-r-e-s her and it’s not hard to see why. She’s beautiful inside and out and he is perfect for her.
